Yesterday, Google announced that the newest version of Google Earth Pro would be offered free of charge. Google Earth Pro is a 3D interactive globe that can be used to “aid planning, analysis and decision making,” according to the website. Users from around the world use Google Earth Pro data for visualization, site planning and information sharing tools.

The upgrade to Google Earth Pro include:

  • Advanced measurement capabilities: Measure areas (impervious surfaces, land developments, agricultural areas, etc.) with the polygon area measurement tool, or determine affected radius with circle measure;
  • High-resolution printing: Print images up to 4,800 x 3,200 pixel resolution;
  • Exclusive pro data layers: Demographics, parcels, and traffic count;
  • Spreadsheet import: Ingest up to 2,500 addresses at a time, assigning place marks and style templates in bulk.
